Chemistry

Overview

The chemistry department is one of the oldest departments of the College. The Chemistry department is able to sustain primarily due to the encouragement of Management, efforts of the principal and the concerned Faculty member. Our Mission – “To empower students with in-depth knowledge of Chemistry as well as prepare them for their role as global citizens”. The students are trained to analyze and solve real world problems.

The department was established in the year 2006 with only undergraduate course of B.Sc Chemistry. Since then the department has progressed continuously, in the year 2010 M.Sc Organic Chemistry was introduced as a Post Graduate course. Two members of the department have been registered as Ph.D. research guides and M.Phil. guide.

  1. A lecture on “Current trends and future in Renewable Energy” delivered by Dr. Jigna Machhi on 29/08/2015.

  8. A power point presentation on lab safety and good laboratory practice was arranged for all UG and PG students.

Other activities of the department:

  1. Mentor-Mentee System
  2. Donating personal books to the poor students
  3. Guidance for Competitive Exams like NET, SET, GATE, GPSC etc.
  4. Group discussions, debates, quiz are arranged for students.
  5. The PG final year students are sent for training in instrumental techniques in different industries, so as to make them aware of working environment of industries.
